This policy explains what The Dashboard team collects when you use Dashboard, why, who it is shared with, and the choices you have. We collect as little as we can to run the service, and we never sell your data.

Who we are

Dashboard is run by The Dashboard team, who is responsible for your data. You can reach us at hello@dashboard.app.

What we collect

  • Account: your email address, a hashed password if you set one, and the profile details GitHub or Google share when you continue with them (name, username, picture).
  • Profile: what you add — avatar, headline, bio, links, status, and an optional GitHub username.
  • Content: messages, files, reactions, tasks, notes, snippets, comments and projects you create, plus the settings you choose.
  • Activity: things like when you were last active (for presence and @here), read positions in conversations, and notifications.
  • Technical data: sign-in sessions (device and IP address) to keep your account secure, and anonymous, cookieless page analytics.
  • Integrations: if you add a GitHub personal access token, it is encrypted before it is stored and only used on our servers.

How we use it

  • To provide the service: show your content to the people you share it with, deliver messages and notifications, and run voice and video calls.
  • To keep it secure: authenticate you, prevent abuse and enforce permissions.
  • To improve it, using aggregated, anonymous usage statistics.

Who can see what

Your profile is visible to people who are signed in. Messages and files are only reachable by people allowed to see the conversation they were posted in. Private projects are visible to their members; public projects and public snippets to anyone signed in.

Service providers

We rely on a few providers who process data on our behalf:

  • Supabase — database, authentication, file storage and realtime updates.
  • Vercel — hosting and privacy-friendly web analytics.
  • Cloudflare — relaying voice, video and screen sharing between participants (nothing is recorded).
  • GitHub, Google — only when you choose to sign in with them or connect them.
  • GIPHY / Tenor — search terms you type in the GIF picker.

When a message contains a link, our server fetches that page to build a preview; the site you link to sees a request from our server, not from you.

Cookies

We use only the cookies needed to keep you signed in. Analytics do not use cookies.

How long we keep it

We keep your data while your account exists. When you delete content it is removed; when you delete your account, your profile, content and uploaded files are deleted, and projects you are the only member of go with it.

Your choices and rights

  • Download a copy of everything we hold about you (including your files) from Settings → Account → Download your data.
  • Correct your details in Settings, and choose which notifications reach you.
  • Delete your account from Settings → Account.
  • Contact us to ask about, correct or delete your data at any time.

Children

The service is not for children under 13. If you believe a child has created an account, please contact us.

Changes

If this policy changes in a meaningful way, we'll update the date above and, where appropriate, tell you in the app.
